We are happy to announce Batu LMS v1.0.5. This release is about how learning feels. The Course Player has been redesigned from the ground up, so every student can read, watch and study the way that suits them.
It brings seven course player layouts, a Settings panel with themes and adjustable text size, a Focus reading mode, private highlights and notes in lesson text, a Rate this course prompt, and a cleaner, more consistent look across the course builder, the course catalog and the course details page.
Batu LMS v1.0.5 Changelog
Before getting into the details, here is a quick look at what is included in this update.
Added: Course Player Settings. A Settings button on the player opens a panel with Theme (Light, Sepia, Dark), Text size (A- and A+), Layout and Reading mode.
Added: Classic Left and Classic Right layouts. Move the course content to the left or the right of the lesson.
Added: Reader Left and Reader Right layouts. A reading-first lesson page with the course content on one side, an “In this lesson” list, and Previous, Mark as complete and Next in one row.
Added: Regular Cards layout. The course as cards or a list that you can sort, with each lesson and quiz opening in a popup that has Lesson, Material, Notes and Discussion tabs.
Added: Roadmap Left and Roadmap Right layouts. The course as a step-by-step roadmap with a progress summary, where a lesson opens right under its step.
Added: Focus reading mode. It hides everything except the lesson, with a lesson picker and an Exit button.
Added: Highlights in the Course Player. Select words in a lesson to highlight them in yellow, green, blue or pink, add a private note, or ask a question about the passage. Highlights are private to the student, come back each time the lesson opens, and work in every layout.
Added: A Rate this course prompt in the Course Player once a student finishes a course they have not reviewed. It links to the Reviews tab on the course page and follows each course’s review settings.
Added: Course Player Layout in Settings > Appearance. Pick the layout every student sees by default, and choose whether students can change it. Fixed hides the Layout option in the course player; flexible lets each student pick their own.
Updated: Settings now has a separate Branding tab (login page branding and social login), so Appearance only holds the look and colours.
Updated: The Course Player top bar now shows “Back to the dashboard” on the left and one Settings button on the right. Bookmark moved into the Settings panel.
Updated: The lesson page shows the course name above the lesson title, and the video, audio or download sits inside the first tab (Lesson, Quiz or Exam).
Updated: The Material tab only appears when a lesson has files, and files show as cards.
Updated: The Course progress card shows how many quizzes are completed and no longer repeats the progress bar.
Updated: At Batu LMS v1.0.5, marking a lesson complete opens the next lesson or quiz.
Updated: Course content and lesson text are larger and easier to read, and text size changes scale every heading and paragraph together.
Updated: The course builder at Batu LMS v1.0.5 (add and edit course) uses the same modern rounded fields everywhere: title, chapters, lessons, quizzes and questions, learning outcomes, FAQ, assignments and admin note. The text editors and checkboxes match, and the lesson, quiz and question dropdowns look like the Specification card.
Updated: The course catalog page and the [batuedu_course_listing] shortcode now show only the search, sort, course list and pagination, with the Featured courses row above when there are any, and no heading banner, so they sit cleanly inside any page.
Updated: The Save to wishlist heart on each course card moved to the top-right corner, so it no longer squeezes the Enroll Now and View Details buttons.
Fix: The course details page text (Overview, Curriculum, Reviews, FAQs and the payment note) now uses one consistent size instead of taking the site theme’s larger text size.
A Course Player That Fits the Way You Learn
Not everyone studies the same way. Some people like a lesson list beside the text. Some like a calm page with only words. Some like to see the whole course as cards or as a roadmap. We know this and we worked on the design heavily this time.
Batu LMS v1.0.5 gives students seven layouts to choose from: Classic Left and Right, Reader Left and Right, Regular Cards, and Roadmap Left and Right. The same lessons, quizzes, notes and discussions work in every one of them.
A new Settings button opens a small panel. Students pick a Light, Sepia or Dark theme, make the text bigger or smaller with A- and A+, and switch to Focus mode to hide everything but the lesson. Their choices are remembered on their device.
Highlight What Matters
Students can now select words in a lesson and highlight them in yellow, green, blue or pink. They can add a private note to a highlight, or choose Ask about this to start a question that quotes the passage.
Highlights are private. They come back each time the lesson opens, and if a teacher later edits the lesson, a highlight whose text has gone is kept in a Your highlights list instead of being lost.
Your Course, Your Rules
In Settings > Appearance, you can now choose the Course Player Layout that every student sees by default. With Student flexibility on, each student can pick their own layout. With it off, the layout is fixed for everyone and the Layout option is hidden in the player.
Branding has its own tab in Settings, so the login page branding and social login are easy to find, and Appearance stays focused on the look and colours.
Finish, Then Rate
When a student finishes a course they have not reviewed yet, the Course Player now offers a Rate this course button. It opens the Reviews tab on the course page, and it follows each course’s own review settings, so reviews you have turned off never show a prompt.
A Cleaner, More Consistent Look
The course builder now uses the same modern rounded fields on every card: the title, chapters, lessons, quizzes and questions, learning outcomes, FAQ, assignments and admin note. The text editors and checkboxes match, and the dropdowns are the same ones you already know from the Specification card.
The course catalog is simpler too. It shows only the search, sort, course list and pagination, so you can place it inside any page with the [batuedu_course_listing] shortcode. The wishlist heart sits in the top-right corner of each card, and the course details page uses one consistent text size.
Wrapping Up
Batu LMS v1.0.5 is about making learning comfortable: a player students can shape to their own taste, tools to remember what matters, and a calmer, more consistent look for the people who build and sell courses.
