We are excited to announce the release of Batu LMS v1.0.3. It’s our biggest update so far, focused on helping you teach live, keep learners talking, hear back from them, and see exactly how everyone is doing.

This release introduces Live Classes, Webinars and Meetings with a Calendar, Announcements and Email, Discussions and Reviews, learner progress views, Surveys, certificate expiry with renewals, and each person’s own language and time zone. We have also made a number of smaller changes to make Batu LMS easier to run.

Teach Live With Classes, Webinars and Meetings

Learning is not only about recorded lessons. Sometimes you need to meet your learners face to face.

With Batu LMS v1.0.3, you can create live classes, webinars, and meetings right inside your LMS. Set the date, time, course, host, seats, and whether the session is online or in person. Paste a Zoom, Google Meet, or other link, and a Join button opens shortly before the start and records who came.

Sessions can repeat daily, weekly, every two weeks, or monthly. When you edit or delete one, you can choose to change only that session or this and all later ones.

You decide who can see each session: Public, Private, Invite only, or Draft. Public sessions get their own page, and people without an account can be invited by email and get access when they sign up. Automatic reminders go out the day before and shortly before the start.

Live Sessions is an addon that is off by default. A new Enable all addons switch on the Addons screen turns every addon on or off in one click.

See Everything in a Calendar

The new Calendar and Upcoming views bring your live classes, webinars, meetings, and assignment due dates into one place. Shortcodes let you place them on any page of your site. Batu LMS v1.0.3 focuses not only on courses but also on true learning.

Announcements and Email Without Leaving Your LMS

Reaching your learners is now much easier with the Batu LMS v1.0.3 update. The new Announcements and Email composer lets you write to everyone, students, employees, authors, a course, or specific people, and send it now or schedule it for later.

Emails support per-person placeholders, a preview, and a test send. A background queue sends in small batches, retries failures, and keeps a log of every email. Authors can message their own students, companies their own people, and the owner anyone.

Learners can choose how they want to be notified, and every email includes a one-click unsubscribe link.

Keep the Conversation Going With Discussions and Reviews

Learners can now ask questions right in the Course Player. Replies are threaded, helpful answers can be marked, and helpful votes push the best replies to the top.

Course reviews are here too, with 1 to 5 star ratings, a Verified student tag, instructor replies, and a Most helpful sort. Star ratings appear on course cards, and rating data is added to the course page for search engines.

You stay in control. Choose who can reply, whether reviews need approval, and how long people can edit their posts, for all courses or one course at a time.

Know How Every Learner Is Doing

The new Batu LMS v1.0.3 comes with a View progress button that shows overall progress, every course, lesson, quiz, and assignment, and live-session attendance. You can download it as a CSV file. Learners get a My progress button of their own. Authors see only the students in their own courses, and companies see only their own people.

Certificate Expiry and Renewals

Set how many months each course’s certificate stays valid. The new Expired Certifications view has Expired and Expiring in 30, 60, or 90 days filters, search, and CSV download. Renew by issuing a new certificate, or reset the learner’s progress so they retake the course.

Hear From Your Learners With Surveys

In the latest Batu LMS v1.0.3 update, we have the Surveys addon. The new Surveys addon lets you build a survey, assign it to everyone, a group, a course, or specific people with an optional due date, and collect answers from their dashboard.

Responses show the completion rate, a summary of every question, each person’s answers (hidden for anonymous surveys), and who has not answered yet. Download a single survey as CSV, or export every survey result from Settings > Export & Import. You can also let authors create surveys for their own students.

More Control Over Exams

Quizzes and exams can now be open always, until a date, on a single date, or between two dates. Learners can’t start one outside its window, and the Course Player tells them when it opens or closed.

Language and Timezone, Their Way

Learners now see the site in the language they chose in their profile, when that language is installed. Live sessions, the calendar, and scheduled announcements show and accept times in their own timezone. A profile that was never changed keeps your site’s language and timezone.

Small Improvements That Make a Difference

Audio lessons now play properly in the Course Player. Global announcements now reach people who are not in a company, and reviews show on the course page for courses without a company.
